04/18/2008 :: Global Inheritance :: Final Coachella Update
Coachella is around the corner. We’d love to see you if you’re in the neighborhood.
If you’re off pet shopping in Komodo Island or haven’t left your home since 1967, we will post images on our website after each day. If you’re still interested in attending, buy your tickets on the Coachella website.
If you want to showcase to the world why you’re a Good Samaritan, bid on the single day VIP tixs/passes we are auctioning off to raise funds to support Global Inheritance (501c3 Nonprofit).
You can visit our auction page at: http://www.missionfish.org/NPMMF/nphomepage.jsp?NP_ID=14364
Thank you to everyone who’s helping out. They will remain nameless until the next 3 weeks are a wrap.
Here’s what on our agenda...
Come experience the Energy FACTory Under the 45 ft. Tall Wind Powered Clock Tower!

Last year, Global Inheritance brought you the Energy FACTory featuring cell phone charging bikes, solar powered misters, live screen printing, car conversation, ethanol cooked popcorn, and much more.
This year, we bring you the new and improved Energy FACTory with more punch than a church dance. The Energy FACTory is anchored by a 45 ft. tall wind powered clock stationed at the main entrance as you walk into the festival. It’s an easy target
New Inside the Energy FACTory in 2008
Solar Power/Mannequin Exhibit
Solar energy will be represented in an art exhibit that merges music and mannequins.
Tour de Coachella
Last year’s cell phone charging bikes will make another appearance at Coachella 2008; however, this year we are adding misting fans to the list. As people pedal the bikes, the energy they create will be transferred into a fan, thus making the blades spin and providing a much needed cool down for festival goers and their friends.
Vegetable Oil to Biodiesel Conversion
This biodiesel exhibit will include informational demos and discussions about the pros and cons of producing and using biodiesel to fuel cars and other fossil fuel-guzzling items. A live conversion of 50 gallons of vegetable oil into biodiesel will also occur during the course of the weekend.
Ethanol Popcorn-Cooking Tree
If your stomach wants to go retro, stop by the Ethanol Popcorn Tree, Jiffy Pop popcorn is cooked using ethanol. If you’re lazy, we will even cook it for you.
Eco-Friendly Poster/Shirt Screen Printing
Eco-friendly screen printing allows festival goers to learn more about the world of sustainable fashion.
Original artwork and designs are printed onto shirts made of bamboo and organic cotton.
Solar Powered DJ Station
Apollo would be proud. Enough said.
+++++ Other Programs Include! +++++
CARPOOLCHELLA

Festival goers traveling 4 or more to a car are rewarded for their efforts by winning cool prizes every hour. People place a Carpoolchella badge in their car window and are randomly picked as they enter the venue.
Prizes for lucky Carpoolchellans include lifetime passes to Coachella, limited edition signed EMEK prints, VIP tickets, plus much more cool stuff.
10 FOR 1 BOTTLE EXCHANGE

Festival goers can exchange empty bottles/cans for a new bottle of water. After a long day of break dancing and rocking out, nothing tastes better than frosty agua and the goodwill created by keeping the Coachella grounds clean. For every ten used bottles fans bring to the recycling center, they’ll receive one new bottle in return.
TRASHed :: ART OF RECYCLING
Global Inheritance artists will redesign 96 gallon recycling bins to create an environmentally conscious and interactive art walk. Ten different artists will be showcased this year at Coachella. The TRASHed redesigned recycling bins provide a fun, interesting, and interactive way to get people involved in keeping Coachella clean by recycling.
See you in Indio,

04/01/2008 :: Coachella Express Arrives To Indio

In our efforts to get festival goers back on track....AMTRAK, Coachella Music & Arts Festival and Global Inheritance present The Coachella Express.
This will be the first time ever that a music festival charters a free train for festival goers.
Our goal is to reintroduce the train experience in the west, lower the number of cars on the road, and
turn on those who never traveled on tracks.
In the age of blackberries, iPhones and PSPs you need both hands and eyes. Guess what? Riding the
train is handsfree, and you can ride with matching black eye patches if that’s your style. That means
more time emailing, reading and discussing with your neighbor whether or not the Apollo moon landing
was staged!
Everyone loves the environment and saving major cash and time. Train travel provides all three.
No rush hour traffic, road construction, or that annoying driver running out of gas in the middle car lane.
You can even enjoy a frosty cold one because the conductor is dead sober and responsible for taking
you safely to your destination.
Coachella Express is exclusively for Coachella campers. If you're holding a festival ticket, if you're camping onsite, and if you're down to board a train with 500 of your Coachella friends...
run, don’t walk, to your computer to buy your Coachella tickets and sign up before the train sells out. http://www.coachella.com/visitors/amtrak
The train will leave Thursday afternoon, April 24 from historical Union Station to Indio, California and return Monday late morning, April 28.
Ask us questions.....email: coachellaexpress@coachella.com
Coachella 2008 features the biggest and coolest music acts around including Roger Waters, Portishead, Hot Chip, Jackson Johnson, Fatboy Slim, Kraftwerk, Death Cab For Cutie ++++ More!

Global Inheritance hit the slopes this Winter X Games with our TRASHed and TRASHed Recycling Store programs. Thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s activities at Winter X Games 12 in Aspen, Colorado the best ever.
In case you’ve forgotten, the TRASHed: Recycling Store is a store that only accepts bottles and cans as currency. Kids and adults skilled in the art of bottle collection walked away with cool stuff like Logitech iPod speakers, Livity organic iPod cases, skate decks, autographed band merch, Guitar Hero video games, and a whole lot more. Those lacking skills in the bottle collection area were still able to win cool merch in other ways . Special thanks go out to our partners - Disney Environmentality and X Games for all their tender love and support.

The streets of Hollywood overflowed with Public Displays of Affection (PDA) this past Thursday as Ladytron,

Doors opened early as thousands flooded into the Hollywood & Highland Center using their subway/bus pass
as their concert ticket. While many believe that people in Los Angeles are notorious for embracing their cars with
such passion you would think they were attached at birth, the turnout for PDA provides evidence that change is
under way and the outlook on public transportation is being redefined.

In this battle of
momentous proportions, the causes of global warming (Oil, Coal, Hummers, Factories, Lobbyists, and Trash) came
face to face with the cures (Wind Power, Solar Panels, Bikes, Trees, Scientists, and Recycling Bins) in the most
informative and exciting chess match ever played by animal, mineral, or vegetable on Canadian soil.
Also, we kicked off our BIG TWISTER campaign that helps fund the POSTed campaign (Education Through
Poster Art).
The concept around Big Twister is for people to select one of 5 causes and then battle on the Twister
Mat to benefit their initiative.

After the concert, each redesigned bin received a good home at different public location around the city.

08/07/2007 :: X GAMES 13 in the Record Books
Global Inheritance crossed the finish on Sunday with another successful year at the X Games bringing even
more excitement and awareness to the athletes and fans at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles.
With the continued support of our partner X Games Environmentality and friends at X Games, thousands of empty bottles and cans were recycled at the TRASHed Recycling Store, hundreds of cars arrived full,
recycling bins were redesigned and eco-friendly RC cars raced around the track.

Recyclers received their pick of several cool items in the Recycling Store including belts made from skatedecks, purses from candy wrappers, bags from old records, organic Loomstate jeans and totes, Livity hemp iPod holders, Logitech headphones + lots more.
Smart people who were caught carpooling received prizes for everyone in the car, and four lucky drivers each won a grand prize in our daily drawing. Congrats to Darrell Murphy, Arleen Wend, Missy Basham and Mary Sachs. Prizes included four 2-day passes to Disneyland, including a night at one of the Disneyland resorts; 4 tickets to X Games 14 in 2008; 4 tickets to the Coachella Music Festival in 2008; and 4 Boost Mobile phones with a month's worth of minutes.
Global Inheritance also made our mark on the X Fest with the Alternative Fuel RC cars.
X Games fans raced RC cars, learning first-hand the benefits of alternative fuels and received the spotlight.
The Art of Recycling was also featured in the athlete lounge with live recycling bin painting. Each day, a new artist showed their skills to the X Games athletes themselves. The bins looked awesome and everyone in the lounge gained a little insight. Thanks to our artists Erik Siador, DemonBabies, Pinky and Josh Geyer!

08/06/2007 :: Getting TRASHed Like A Virgin

The TRASHed Recycling Store traveled to Baltimore, Maryland this past weekend to visit all our east coast friends
at the Virgin Festival USA and rid the venue of any rogue bottles/cans.
The two-day music festival
featured bands like The Police, Beastie Boys, Smashing Pumpkins, Modest Mouse, Wu Tang Clan,
Amy Winehouse, Interpol and a whole lot more. Global Inheritance and the TRASHed :: Recycling Store fit in
perfectly alongside such popular acts. We managed to please the steady flow of young and old recyclers who
came looking to trade their empty bottles and cans for top-notch prizes.
All weekend, people walked away with
organic Loomstate jeans/bags, Simpsons merch, Logitech iPod speakers, Livity organically made belts and
phone cases, fresh tunes from Warner Music and Interscope, Netflix subscriptions, Focus Features DVDs, Quiksilver shirts and hats + much more.
Congratulations are in order for the top buyers who collected over 500 bottles and cans and exchanged them for X Games or Fuel TV skate decks and Virgin phones.
Stay classy Baltimore, and we'll probably see you again next year.

A Special Segment of the Sunset Cinema Series at the QuikSilverEdition Mission

Come chill with Global Inheritance and QuikSilverEdition as we present our summer film screening series. Each Global Inheritance film screening will target a different issue and be hosted by the film's directors.
Thank you to everyone that turned out to see the highly acclaimed film "Who Killed The Electric Car?" with
a Q&A session from director Chris Paine along with our screening of "Plagues and Pleasures on the Salton
Sea," the award-winning film from directors Chris Metzler and Jeff Springer.
If you missed out its not to late to come chill with Global Inheritance at the QuikSilverEdition Mission this
summer for a screening of "Disarm," an independent documentary film that presents a contemporary and
provocative view of the forces challenging the achievement of a landmine-free world. Looking beyond mines,
Disarm offers an intelligent and critical investigation into how weapons systems, war, and the way war is
waged are being redefined in the twenty-first century with devastating consequences. Film soundtrack scored
by the likes of Thievery Corporation, Mum and Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips. Join us on August 2, 2007 at 9pm to screen the film, which will be followed by a discussion led by the films directors Mary Wareham and Brian Liu. http://www.disarmfilm.org
Still to come, on August 30th, 2007 "The Bigger Picture" will be screening "Sierra Leone's Refugee All-Stars," hosted by the films directors Zach Niles and Banker White. Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars chronicles the
story of six Sierra Leonean musicians who came together to form a band while living in a refugee camp in
Guinea. Despite the unimaginable horrors of civil war, they were saved and brought hope and happiness to
their fellow refugees through their music. As violent conflicts multiply around the globe and the worldwide
refugee crisis deepens, Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars is a humanizing ode to all the innocent survivors of
war whose brutal realities are often dismissed by surface mass media sound bytes.

06/05/2007 :: Sasquatch Festival :: Recycling with the Yeti

If you’ve never been to the gorge, you’re missing out. One of top three music venues in the country by far.
Our mission: deliver the TRASHed Recycling Store with the likes of Bjork, Arcade Fire, Beastie Boys, Interpol + more...
We added
another layer this year as we offered people the chance to win a film screening of Focus Feature's "Talk to Me"
[ http://www.focusfeatures.com ] to the biggest recycler and all of his or her friends (we also packed the store
with tons of cool merchandise – iPod speakers, out-of-stock vinyl, limited skate decks, organic jeans + more).
Due to the fact that the venue didn’t have recycling bins... saying we didn’t have a decent amount of foot traffic is an understatement.

Check out the Sasquatch photo gallery to soak in the love we received over the two days at ::

6/01/2007 :: Virgin Festival – Vancouver :: New Frontiers

Crossing the border with the TRASHed :: Recycling Store is always an experience. We extend our gratitude to the
wonderful customs agents who provided us hassle free passage in the name recycling.
The people in Vancouver are always the coolest. The crowds loved the TRASHed :: Recycling Store even when the
rain and cold arrived on Day 1.
You can’t stop the Goths, you can only hope to contain them. By the next day, the
sun rolled in and we started selling out of merchandise.

You can view Virgin Festival Vancouver Recycling gallery at ::

Thank you to all our great sponsors who provided us store merchandise ::
Loomstate, Fuel TV, Logitech, Virgin Mobile, Penguin Books, Capitol Records, Motorola, Thievery Corporation
+ more. Jacob and the Virgin Festival staff were super helpful. Special thanks to the dynamic duo of Jasmine
Zeger and Kristi Villegas who braved the entire road trip and all of our amazing volunteers.
We are looking forward to coming back in 2008.

4/27/2007 :: Global Inheritance and Coachella present the Energy FACTory Project
Coachella 2007:: Energy, Recycling, Bamboo and Carpooling
This year’s sold out festival featured several new programs created by Global
Inheritance and Coachella.
These programs highlighted a new shift in the festival direction to inspire
individuals, minimize ecological impact and create a better festival experience.

Energy FACTory
The Energy FACTory highlighted renewable energy sources
and showcased the power of wind, solar, manmade,
biodiesel and ethanol.
Festival goers were able to recharge
their cell phones by riding in the Tour De Coachella.
A variety of different types of cell phone chargers were available along with 24 bikes that were used to power your
cell phone.
The FACTory also included “Make It Yourself “Biodiesel demonstrations, ask the Energy Experts, the
conversion of a car to electric, a wind powered light box, DJ Portal Potty station, solar powered misters and lighting
as well as live screen printing of energy posters inspired by the La Verdura – the Mexican card game of chance.
View the Energy FACTory photo gallery at :: http://flickr.com/photos/74696088@N00/sets/72157600311139623/
Recycling Exchange – 10 For 1
You had better chances of finding bootleg “Battlefield Earth” DVDs on the Coachella grounds then spotting a
empty bottle. Festival goers received free waters by recycling and enjoyed a spotless polo field. In its first year, the Recycling Exchange proved to be a huge success with over 160,000 bottles being recycled!
Bamboo
Coachella bamboo shirts were made available for the first time this year. These shirts sold out by the second day.
Bamboo shirts makes Charmin feel like grip tape. We are looking forward to expanding the collection of bamboo
and organic shirts in 2008!
Carpooling with Carpoolchella
This year all festival goers were encouraged to ride 4 or more in the car to save time, save money and put fewer
cars on the road. People driving full vehicles with a Carpoolchella sign in their window were randomly selected
to win “Coachella Tickets” for life. Each day our trackers selected a different car.
This years winners included ::
Calliope Gazetas - San Francisco, CA
Gateley Meeker - Los Angeles, CA
Michell Yoo - Alhambra, CA
Minsun Park - Los Angeles, CA

10/30/06 :: Public Displays of Affection :: Check
out event photos on Flickr
Signs of Public Displays of Affection (PDA) filled the streets and underground of Los Angeles this past Tuesday. We received an overwhelming response @ Union Station and apologize to everyone who didn’t get into the main venue because we reached capacity. On a positive note, this unique venue still provided those outside the main entrance a view of the stage, so hopefully nobody missed the Secret Machines.
An incoming bus/subway ticket to Union Station was the only way to attend PDA. Historically, people in Los Angeles haven’t engaged public transportation in the way that cities like New York or London have, so we didn’t know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised to say the least. We hope the success of PDA will open Los Angeles’s eyes to the public transportation options that are a viable alternative to cars - especially for those living downtown.
